WHY CARESEAL

A repair approach built around the actual problem.

CareSeal assesses the condition before recommending work. The goal is to solve the identified wet-area problem with an appropriate scope while keeping sound finishes in place where a suitable surface-first repair allows it.

SURFACE WATERPROOFING SYDNEY

Waterproofing solutions that work with suitable existing tiles.

CareSeal focuses on surface-applied waterproofing, sealing, grout restoration and flexible-joint repair for suitable existing tiled wet areas.

We assess the visible condition first. Where sound tiles and accessible surface details make this approach suitable, the goal is to improve water resistance and address identified entry points without unnecessary tile removal.

Signs a surface assessment may help

✓Recurring moisture around existing tiled wet areas
✓Cracked or deteriorated grout joints
✓Failed silicone or flexible junctions
✓Water entry through suitable exposed surface details
✓Weathered tiled balcony joints and seals
✓Existing sound tiles where a surface-applied repair may be suitable
WHERE WATER CAN ENTER

Why existing tiled wet areas can develop water-entry problems.

Tiles are only one part of the visible surface. Grout, flexible joints and exposed junctions can deteriorate with moisture, movement, cleaning and weather exposure.

01

Deteriorated grout

Deteriorated grout can allow repeated moisture entry through an existing tiled surface.

02

Failed flexible joints

Flexible silicone and movement joints can split, shrink or lose adhesion over time.

03

Exposed junctions

Corners, thresholds, edges, penetrations and other exposed junctions can become water-entry points.

04

Issues outside our scope

Some leaks originate from plumbing, substrate or an underlying membrane failure and are outside CareSeal’s surface-applied waterproofing scope.

CARESEAL WATERPROOFING OPTIONS

What can a surface-applied waterproofing scope include?

The treatment is matched to the existing tiled area and the defects that can be addressed from the accessible surface.

✓

Surface-applied waterproofing

A suitable surface-applied system may be used where the existing tiled area and identified problem make that approach appropriate.

✓

Regrouting & grout restoration

Deteriorated grout can be removed and renewed where it forms part of the agreed surface-restoration scope. Explore tile regrouting →

✓

Flexible-joint renewal

Suitable failed silicone and movement joints can be renewed at accessible corners, perimeters and junctions where required.

✓

Surface sealing

Suitable tiled surfaces and exposed details can be sealed as part of a condition-based repair scope.

IMPORTANT SERVICE BOUNDARY

Does CareSeal replace waterproofing membranes under tiles?

No. CareSeal specialises in suitable surface-applied solutions around existing tiled areas.

We do not remove tiles to expose, install or replace an underlying waterproofing membrane, and we do not represent surface sealing or regrouting as a substitute for membrane reconstruction when an underlying system has failed.

If the visible evidence suggests the problem is outside the surface-repair scope, we explain that rather than recommending a treatment that does not match the condition.

CareSeal's scope

✓Keep suitable sound tiles in place
✓Work from accessible tiled surfaces and joints
✓Regrout, reseal and surface-waterproof where suitable
✓Be clear when evidence points outside that scope
WATERPROOFING BY AREA

Bathrooms, balconies and kitchen wet areas need different surface details.

The right repair depends on where the water is appearing and which accessible joints or surfaces have deteriorated.

For area-specific information, see Bathroom Waterproofing →, Balcony Waterproofing → or Kitchen Waterproofing →. The Sydney page remains the overview of CareSeal's surface-applied waterproofing service.

QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU BOOK

Waterproofing FAQs.

What type of waterproofing does CareSeal provide?+

CareSeal focuses on suitable surface-applied waterproofing, sealing, regrouting and flexible-joint restoration around existing tiled wet areas. The exact scope depends on the visible condition and accessible surface details.

Can CareSeal waterproof over existing tiles?+

In suitable cases, CareSeal can apply a surface-based waterproofing or sealing solution while keeping sound existing tiles in place. The tiled surface, grout, joints and visible condition need to be assessed first.

Does CareSeal replace waterproofing membranes under tiles?+

No. CareSeal does not remove tiles to expose, install or replace an underlying waterproofing membrane. If evidence suggests an underlying membrane or substrate problem, that work is outside CareSeal’s surface-applied waterproofing scope.

Is surface waterproofing suitable for every leak?+

No. Surface-applied work is suitable only where the condition and likely water-entry path can appropriately be addressed from the accessible tiled surface, grout, seals or junctions.

What is the difference between waterproofing and regrouting?+

Regrouting renews suitable deteriorated grout joints. CareSeal’s waterproofing scope can be broader at the accessible surface and may combine suitable surface-applied waterproofing, sealing, flexible-joint renewal and grout restoration according to the condition.

Can CareSeal waterproof showers and bathrooms without removing tiles?+

Where the existing tiled wet area is sound and suitable for a surface-applied repair, CareSeal can assess waterproofing and sealing options that keep sound tiles in place. Under-tile membrane replacement is not part of this service.

Do you provide balcony waterproofing?+

Yes. CareSeal provides surface-applied balcony waterproofing and sealing for suitable existing tiled balconies. Balcony waterproofing and sealing is advertised from $125/m², with final pricing depending on area, access, condition and agreed scope.

How much does waterproofing cost in Sydney?+

The main Waterproofing Sydney service is quoted after assessment because area, access, surface condition, preparation and the suitable system vary. CareSeal separately advertises balcony waterproofing and sealing from $125/m².

How long does surface waterproofing take?+

Many CareSeal wet-area repairs are completed within 1–2 days, depending on area, access, preparation, weather where relevant, product requirements and the agreed scope.

How soon can I use the repaired area?+

CareSeal generally advises allowing around 24 hours after completion before using many repaired wet areas, but product-specific and job-specific curing or return-to-use guidance always takes priority.

What photos should I send for a waterproofing quote?+

Send an overall view of the tiled area plus close-ups of deteriorated grout, silicone or flexible joints, corners, thresholds, edges and any visible dampness or staining. Tell us when the moisture appears and whether previous repairs have been attempted.

Is CareSeal waterproofing guaranteed?+

Qualifying CareSeal work can include a written guarantee of up to 7 years. The applicable guarantee depends on the service, product and agreed scope.
