Why Showers Leak: Grout, Silicone or Waterproofing?
Understand the common visible clues and why diagnosis matters before choosing a repair.
Start with the symptom
A leaking shower is a symptom, not a diagnosis. Cracked grout, failed silicone, screen junctions and deeper waterproofing problems can all allow moisture to move beyond the intended wet area.
What the condition can mean
Grout fills rigid tile joints; flexible sealant is used where movement is expected. When either deteriorates, water can find easier paths. But replacing a visible joint is not automatically the right repair if the underlying issue sits elsewhere.
Choosing the next step
Look for recurring mould, separated silicone, missing grout, staining outside the shower and leaks that return after patching. A condition-based assessment helps avoid paying for the wrong work.
