CARESEAL GUIDE
Should You Regrout or Reseal a Shower?
A practical guide to the different jobs grout and flexible sealant perform in a shower.
Start with the symptom
Regrouting and resealing are related but different jobs. Regrouting renews suitable rigid joints between tiles. Resealing renews flexible joints such as corners, changes of plane and some screen or perimeter interfaces.
What the condition can mean
A shower may need one or both. Using rigid grout where movement needs a flexible joint can lead to cracking; applying new sealant over contaminated or poorly prepared material can also shorten the life of a repair.
Choosing the next step
CareSeal reviews the condition before defining the scope, with the aim of retaining sound tiles where an appropriate surface repair can solve the identified problem.
